Drake Bets $1.5 Million on Argentina to Win World Cup Final

As the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina approaches, renowned music artist Drake has once again publicly backed the South American team. The American rapper made a staggering $1.5 million bet (approximately €1.3 million) in favor of the “albiceleste” and shared a snapshot of his bet slip on social media.

The final match between Spain and Argentina is set to take place today at 10 PM in New York as part of the World Cup hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Known for his frequent wagers on major sporting events, the Canadian rapper posted a photo of the amount he bet, accompanied by the message: “What was that saying? Better luck next time… no need to say anything else,” clearly expressing his confidence in an Argentine victory.

Drake Bets $1.5 Million on Argentina to Win World Cup Final

This isn’t the first time Drake has shown support for the South American team. Before the Qatar 2022 World Cup final, he also placed a $1 million bet on Lionel Scaloni’s squad. At that time, Argentina triumphed over France in a penalty shootout, securing their third World Cup title. However, that bet ended up being a loss for the rapper since he had anticipated a victory in regulation time, according to reports.

The artist has gained a curious reputation in the sports world, associated with what’s known as the “Drake Curse,” a theory suggesting that many teams or athletes he supports end up losing their matches.

Despite this reputation, Argentina did not suffer from the rapper’s bad luck in the previous final, although he ultimately lost money on that occasion.

The “Drake Curse” became a talking point after it was noted on social media that every famous athlete photographed with the rapper invariably lost their next match. This has happened over the years with footballers like Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Jadon Sancho.

Other athletes who have faced disappointment after being photographed with Drake include Conor McGregor, Serena Williams, and Anthony Joshua, who also experienced setbacks right after their pictures with the rapper.

Additionally, Drake has recently made several incorrect predictions in contact sports, failing to foresee Tyson Fury’s victories over Oleksandr Usyk, Mike Tyson’s win against Jake Paul, and Paul’s triumph over Joshua.
