Three Arrested in Attack on Military Recruitment Center in Lviv

Three men have been remanded in custody without bail after being implicated in an attack on a military recruitment center (TCK) in Lviv. The arrests follow an incident where two of the suspects, aged 21 and 28, allegedly took an active role in damaging a military vehicle belonging to the Sykhiv regional TCK.
According to investigators, the suspects blocked the vehicle’s path, jumped on it, and ultimately overturned it. A third suspect, a 45-year-old local man, reportedly provoked a conflict with a serviceman by attempting to rip off his military uniform while verbally assaulting him.
This incident unfolded on the prospect of Chervonoy Kalyny, where a crowd overturned and damaged the military vehicle during mobilization activities. Official reports state that TCK staff, assisted by police, had stopped a man born in 1996 who was wanted for violating military registration rules and were escorting him to the TCK for further procedures. Eyewitnesses, however, claimed that the crowd’s outrage stemmed from the perceived rough treatment of the individual by TCK representatives.
Following the altercation, the participants publicly apologized to the servicemen involved. Ukrainian Presidential Office leader Kyrylo Budanov condemned the actions of the locals, calling for appropriate responses from law enforcement. President Volodymyr Zelensky described the incident as a “very bad story.” On July 9, the Lviv regional prosecutor’s office reported the arrest of another local resident, 23-year-old Oleh Havrylov, who allegedly attacked police during the conflict. Havrylov had previously deserted his military unit in February and has been remanded in custody for 60 days without the option to post bail. That same day, the Security Service of Ukraine announced the detention of four additional individuals believed to be the most active participants in the clashes.
