Eugen Neagoe Predicts Shocking World Cup Semifinals: Norway vs Switzerland

Coach Eugen Neagoe, aged 58, anticipates surprises in the World Cup quarter-finals, expressing a desire for Norway to defeat England and for Switzerland to overcome Argentina. He noted that the South American team has “benefited from significant refereeing errors.”

France has already secured a spot in the semi-finals after defeating Morocco 2-0 on Thursday night. The upcoming matches include Spain versus Belgium, along with Norway against England and Argentina facing Switzerland.

During a recent appearance on GSP Live, Neagoe expressed his hope for an all-European semi-final lineup, predicting that Norway, led by Erling Haaland, will reach the final.

Eugen Neagoe’s Vision for World Cup Semifinals: Norway vs Switzerland

“I believe Spain will advance, even though Belgium is a strong team. If I could choose for the other two matches… I would pick Norway and Switzerland. I would like to see all four semi-finalists from Europe,” he stated.

Neagoe, who has expressed admiration for both Argentine players and football, draws a distinction between iconic players like Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi. He said, “I have been a fan of Brazil since I was young, and I have always admired Maradona. For me, he will always be special…”

He continued, expressing his desire for Switzerland to progress, envisioning a semi-final showdown between Norway and Switzerland, paired with a match between France and Spain. Neagoe believes Norway is performing well and will continue to excel, despite England’s strong performance.

Neagoe acknowledged Switzerland’s underdog status but expressed faith in their capabilities, noting their consistent ranking among the top 10 teams globally in recent years.

He praised Norway’s strong players, highlighting Haaland and Martin Ødegaard, stating, “One is the captain at Arsenal, while the other is the most important player at Manchester City.”

Furthermore, Neagoe predicted a final between France and Norway, asserting, “I don’t see Norway as guaranteed victims against any opponent.”

Eugen Neagoe: “Argentina Benefited from Major Refereeing Errors”

When questioned about the theory suggesting FIFA might be favoring Argentina for another World Cup title, Neagoe responded, “I don’t believe that, but they have indeed benefited from some significant errors, in my opinion. Including the red card that should have been given to Messi against Algeria. It was a very ugly tackle, clearly deserving of a red card.”

He added, “I understand, but you know what happened with Egypt. There were some situations… It wasn’t clear, but Egypt could have easily been awarded a penalty for Salah.”

Neagoe expressed frustration with referees, questioning their consistency in applying the rules: “I have reproached some referees, asking them: ‘Do you all have our regulations? Some referee with one set of rules, others with another?”
