Health Minister Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda Faces Ultimatum from Premier

Today marks the deadline set by Premier Donald Tusk for Health Minister Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda to present a “satisfactory” reform plan for healthcare salaries. Failure to do so may lead to her dismissal.

Sobierańska-Grenda took over as health minister in July, succeeding Izabela Leszczyńska. According to her recent financial disclosure, she earned approximately 725,000 PLN last year. Notably, a significant portion of this income, amounting to 530,221.66 PLN, comes from “other income,” which includes benefits related to her previous work at Pomorskie Hospitals.

The minister clarified that this figure includes her salary components, variable pay, and compensation related to a non-compete clause in her managerial contract.

Additionally, her statement reported 128,000 PLN from a collaboration with the Podlaskie Voivodeship, which is scheduled to conclude in April 2025. The rest of her income is derived from academic and educational activities.

Property Changes Noted

Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda emphasized that the release of her financial statement aligns with her commitment to transparency in public life. She stated that the document was shared publicly, despite claiming she was not obligated to do so.

This marks her second financial disclosure; the first was submitted when she assumed the health minister position, while this latest document reflects her financial status as of the end of 2025. Over the months, her assets have changed, with a house of 109 square meters and a plot of land of 637 square meters disappearing from her assets, now transferred to her husband.
