Russia Simulates Ukrainian Assault Scenario in Crimea Using Drones

The recent military exercise conducted by Russian forces involved a simulation of a potential Ukrainian offensive in Crimea. Participants included current officers as well as retired and reservist military personnel.
According to military analyst Muraḥovskyi, the simulated “Blue” team employed unconventional tactics, heavily utilizing advanced detection and strike capabilities. In contrast, the “Red” team was compelled to adopt a defensive posture during the exercise.
The Insider reported that Muraḥovskyi shared a map of Crimea based on the SK-42 military topographic framework, which remains in use today. In Geographic Information Systems (GIS), operational data such as positions and routes are layered onto this foundation.
- “Blue arrows” represented hypothetical maneuvers by the Ukrainian forces approaching Crimea via maritime routes;
- “Red zones” indicated areas of defense established by Russian troops;
- Key locations such as Sevastopol, northern Crimea, and the Kerch area were meticulously marked.
This scenario depicted not a traditional amphibious assault but a modern operation incorporating drones, reconnaissance, and high-precision weaponry.
Context
- Ukrainian defense forces have periodically targeted occupied sites in Crimea, recently increasing their strikes, which disrupted Russian military logistics and fuel supplies. This led to restrictions on gasoline sales within Russia and the temporarily occupied territories.
- In an interview with Reuters published on June 11, Robert Brovdi (Madyar), commander of Ukraine’s drone forces, indicated that Ukrainian defenses would soon isolate Crimea.
