Ukrainian Defense Ministry Reports Successful Deep Strikes Across Russia

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has reported successful deep strikes targeting critical Russian infrastructure throughout June. The strikes extended from the temporarily occupied Crimea and Krasnodar region to Western Siberia, aiming to diminish the enemy’s resources for conducting war, including fuel supplies, communication tools, and weapons manufacturing components.
According to the ministry, the impact of Ukrainian deep strikes in June on the Russian forces was deemed “significant.” Ukrainian Armed Forces targeted numerous key facilities, including oil and gas logistics sites, military-industrial complex enterprises, military and space communication centers, as well as enemy shipyards. Several major Russian oil refineries have halted or significantly reduced operations, as announced by the ministry’s press service.
In their summary of June 2026 operations, the ministry highlighted that 11 Russian oil refineries, seven fuel logistics facilities, eight military factories, and centers for space communication had been struck. The maximum successful strike distance exceeded 2,000 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border.
The ministry’s website listed all the occupied objects that were hit last month, along with the consequences of these strikes. Some facilities, including the Moscow Oil Refinery, are reported to have completely ceased oil processing indefinitely.
“We systematically and deliberately reduce the military and economic potential of the enemy. We are forcing Russia to end the war,” the Ministry of Defense underscored while recalling that in May, Ukraine targeted 18 oil and fuel logistics facilities and four military-industrial and chemical industry sites of the enemy.
Context
- Amid successful strikes against Russian oil refineries, a gasoline shortage has emerged in Russia. Bloomberg estimated that Ukrainian forces attacked eight out of ten of the largest Russian oil refineries in May, marking record results.
- On June 13, the monitoring Telegram channel Supernova+ reported that Ukrainian attacks on oil refineries in Nizhnekamsk (Tatarstan, Russia) paralyzed the entire “Tatneft” gas station network. Following these attacks, limits on fuel sales and price increases were observed in Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Saint Petersburg, and Moscow.
- At the beginning of June, media reported that in response to Ukrainian strikes, sales restrictions on gasoline had been imposed in at least 15 regions of Russia, as well as in occupied territories of Ukraine, including Crimea. “Agency. News” reported that on June 17, fuel sales limits were introduced by networks covering approximately 25% of all gas stations in the country, nearly one in four.
