Swedish goalkeeper Evelina Eriksson (29 years old) wants to say goodbye to CSM Bucharest with a triumph in the Final Four of the Champions League.
- This year's Champions League semi-finals are scheduled for June 6: Metz – CSM Bucharest (4:00 p.m.) and Brest – Gyor (19:00); The final will be played on June 7, from 19:00.
Evelina Eriksson arrived at CSM Bucharest in 2022, as a double winner of the League with Vipers Kristiansand. He will change teams immediately after the Final Four. He has already signed with Gloria Bistrița, the new champion of Romania.
Evelina Eriksson: “The plan is to close the gate!”
The Swedish goalkeeper played a key role in CSM's qualification to the semi-finals. In decisive game against Esbjerg, won 37-27was named MVP. Finished with 14 tackles (34.15), including 3 7-yarders defended. He hopes to repeat the evolution on Saturday.
“Yes, that's the plan, to close the gate! If we perform like we did against Esbjerg, I think it will be enough. We don't want to lower the bar at all.
I think there is pressure from outside. We, inside the team, don't seem to feel it. We know what we want and what we have to do. We are focused to achieve our goal”, said Evelina Eriksson at the start of the dialogue with Romanian journalists.
He later revealed that the official training took place on “live chords”, Greek and Latin music: “Normally Crina is in charge of the music in training, I'm in the matches. But today I took his place. It was a Latino vibe today and I think it worked. It seems very important to me to feel the vibe of the team and to bring more motivation through music”.
Bojana Popovic: “Maybe we will have a goalkeeper in shape!”
Bojana Popovic commented on the atmosphere at training. He also conveyed that he is hoping for a big day from the goalkeeper. Evelina Eriksson and Gabriela Moreschi took the brunt of this European journey. Daciana Hosu can also be a solution.
I felt within the team that they are enjoying the moment, the fact that they are here. Many of them would not have expected us to reach the Final Four. Many will leave the team after this weekend. So they put all their energy into making everything come out the way we want. They are very good friends, they all have a special relationship off the field as well. Nothing is accidental
The perfect match tomorrow to win? What is a perfect match? Maybe we'll have a fit keeper, maybe the other keeper will come in and save some important balls. We have to be fully focused for 60 minutes!
– Bojana Popovic, CSM Bucharest coach
