Poland Sees Mixed Trends in Production Data for May 2026

In May 2026, the production of 219 items saw an increase, while 242 experienced a decline, according to the latest data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland. Significant gains were reported in the production of apple juice and frozen vegetables, contrasting with notable decreases in wine and computer manufacturing.
The Central Statistical Office surveyed over 7,000 medium and large firms regarding their production outputs, covering hundreds of products.
Production Trends in Poland: GUS Data for May 2026
When comparing May 2026 to the same month in 2025, there was a significant drop in overall production for items such as women’s blouses, shirts, suits, and complete sets, declining by approximately 50%. The production of colored glass bottles under 2.5 liters for drinks and food also fell by 46.7%.
On the other hand, there were notable increases in the production of gas cookers with ovens (up by 86%), edible rock salt (up by 74.4%), paints (around 50%), and apple juice (up by 41.5%).
Compared to April 2026, May 2026 saw a reduction in the production of 242 items, which included light heating oils (down by 42.6%), fruit wines (down by 41%), fabrics (down by around 30%), and computers (down by 33.2%).
In contrast, production increased for 219 items from the previous month, such as pig iron (up by 60.1%), concentrated apple juice (up by 54.1%), and frozen vegetables (up by 27.3%).
Production Results for Early 2026
Overall, from January to May 2026, production decreased for 248 items. Among the largest declines reported by GUS were women’s dresses and skirts (down by 52.9%), footwear (down by 49.8%), and men’s coats and similar products (down by 47.4%).
Conversely, production rose for 216 items during the same period, including milk and cream (up by 37.3%), edible rock salt (up by 31.1%), and electric meters (up by 26.2%).
Interestingly, there was no change in the production of lignite coal and copper ore compared to the same period last year.
