Pentagon Chief Ousts Top U.S. General Supporting Ukraine Amid Major Restructuring

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Ggeiset has decided to remove General Donahue, the highest-ranking military official in Europe, as part of a significant personnel overhaul within the Pentagon. The reasons for his dismissal have not been officially disclosed.
General Donahue’s ousting comes just two months after Ggeiset dismissed General Randy George from his position as the Army’s Chief of Staff, an action that sparked outrage among Pentagon officers.
A four-star general, Donahue has served in combat zones including Iraq and Syria, gaining recognition as the last American military leader to leave Afghanistan following President Joe Biden’s order to withdraw troops in 2021. He has also commanded U.S. Army units in Africa.
According to reports, his removal is expected to cause another wave of shock within the U.S. armed forces. Several former high-ranking military officials have indicated that Ggeiset has fostered an atmosphere of fear that permeates all branches of the armed forces up to the highest levels.
Donahue’s official retirement is slated for July, according to sources.
