A woman in Russia deliberately set her apartment ablaze after falling victim to a scam aimed at securing an insurance payout. Initially, she transferred $500 to the scammer, who then outlined a scheme involving an arson-for-compensation plan.
During a phone call, the scammer instructed her to toss in paper and to wait at least five minutes to ensure everything was “documented” properly. Ultimately, the woman fled her home when the smoke became unbearable, resulting in the complete destruction of her apartment.
