Trump Identifies Blame for Potential Iran Deal Failure

Former President Donald Trump has made a clear indication regarding accountability in the event that the upcoming Iran deal does not succeed. During a recent statement, he referred to the memorandum of understanding as “very important” but expressed concerns about its necessity for him to sign.
Trump stated that if the deal goes well, he will take full credit for its success. However, he joked that if it fails, the blame would fall squarely on Vice President JD Vance. He humorously addressed Vance, advising him to “be careful,” and insinuated that Vance might be looking to escape responsibility by “turning his plane around and disappearing.”
Trump’s remarks came in the context of recent diplomatic developments. On May 28, an agreement was reached to initiate a 60-day ceasefire memorandum that includes discussions on Tehran’s nuclear program. Following this, on June 1, Trump confirmed that he had met Iran’s condition to cease hostilities between Israel and Lebanon.
Moreover, on June 14, Reuters disclosed a draft of the potential memorandum that outlines various issues, including Iran’s nuclear activities and the resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Sources suggest that a final agreement will be negotiated over the next 60 days following the initial understanding.
Later that evening, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif tweeted about the peace agreement achieved after extensive negotiations between the US and Iran, a statement that Trump subsequently confirmed via his Truth Social account.
