The news, ignored by Bolojan after the surprise designation: “I called, I wrote him a message, no reaction”

Prime Minister-designate Adrian Veștea said on Monday, on Radio România Actualităită, that he will fully take over the governing program developed by the Bolojan Government and that he will come in the next few days with a list of ministers who can immediately start working in the ministries. He admitted that he was struck by a silence from the interim prime minister Ilie Bolojan, after the surprise nomination.

“In a few days you will see that the governing program that the Bolojan government had and which was agreed by all parties will be taken over in its entirety, without changing a single comma, and later I will come up with a list of ministers, people who will have integrity, who will have professional expertise“, stated Vestea.
He added that he wanted the future members of the Cabinet to be able to start work immediately.
“Let's not wait to discover the offices through the ministries or to understand what the job description from a certain ministry means, but from the next day let's get down to work and get Romania out of the situation it is in today“said the prime minister-designate.
No reaction from Ilie Bolojan
The designated prime minister was also asked if he talked with PNL leader and interim prime minister Ilie Bolojan after the announcement made by president Nicușor Dan.
“After the assignment I called, I wrote him a message. I have not had any reaction until this moment. We are going to talk later today“, said Adrian Vestea.
He admitted that his nomination surprised even family members.
“It's true, I think everyone was surprised. I also surprised my family. I had a lot of explaining to do yesterday“, he stated.
The news, however, claimed that he took “a correct, responsible decision at a critical moment” and that he is taking on the task of forming a new government this week.
News: I was assured that there is a parliamentary majority
Asked if he has a parliamentary majority for the investiture of the Government, Adrian Veștea stated that he talked with President Nicușor Dan and Eugen Tomac and that he received assurances that there is sufficient support for the formation of a new Executive.
“I consulted with Mr. President Nicusor Dan, with Eugen Tomac, who had consultations with the political parties and who assured me that it is such a majority“, he declared.
The news claimed that Romania needs a government as quickly as possible and called for responsibility on the part of the political class.
“I think we are more aware than ever that Romania needs a government. Romania needs to be governed“, said the prime minister-designate.
He declared himself optimistic about the vote in Parliament, arguing that the current economic and political context requires the rapid formation of an Executive.
“If we do not understand to put the national interest before personal or party interests, it means that we are not moving the country forward“, said Vestea.
Adrian Veștea's statements come after Ilie Bolojan claimed that neither he nor the PNL leadership were informed before the nomination. The liberal leader categorized the decision of President Nicușor Dan as “a hostile act” and “an obvious attempt to break the PNL“, stating that the appointment of a prime minister from within the party without prior consultation “violates any principle of loyal political collaborationBolojan announced that the PNL will convene a National Political Bureau to adopt an official position.
Adrian Veștea was appointed prime minister by President Nicușor Dan after Eugen Tomac submitted his mandate on Sunday. Vestea has been president of the Brașov County Council since October 2024, having previously held the position of Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration. He was also the mayor of Râșnov for 12 years, between 2004 and 2016.
