The first liberal leader to show his support for Veștea, while Bolojan and Ciucu accuse the president of “an act of aggression”: “I don't think it's treason”

Contacted by HotNews, Vice President Alexandru Popa believes that Adrian Veștea is “a good option” for prime minister. He also said that he does not think that Vestea should be expelled from the party because he accepted the proposal of the president, who did not consult with the party leaders.

“I don't know what was behind the president's decision, but certainly Adrian Veștea is a good option”, declared PNL president Brăila, in the dialogue with HotNews.

The liberal also said that he does not agree that Veștea's appointment is a “hostile act” – as Ilie Bolojan categorized Nicușor Dan's decision. Ciprian Ciucu spoke of “conspiracy. betrayal. interference”.

“I don't think it's a betrayal, why? Maybe Mr. Veștea will create a very efficient government, to carry forward the reforms. I'll go and get my vote in the organization and we'll see where it ends,” Alexandru Popa said.

“How can he be expelled from the party?”

Asked if he would oppose Adrian Veștea being expelled from the party, the liberal answered: “How can Mr. Veștea be expelled? Here we are in a democratic party, no, if you have a point of view, you have to be kicked out. And you don't even have to go to mommy and daddy to tell what you did last night. How can he be expelled from the party?”

After the adoption of the censure motion against the Bolojan Government, Alexandru Popa was among the leaders who abstained from the vote to enter the opposition. This select group also included Hubert Thuma, the president of Ilfovi County Council, first vice-president Nicoleta Pauliuc and Gorj deputy Ion Iordache, writes ProTV.
