Dominic Fritz, on the tensions in the PNL: “I hope that there is a camp that does not want to be the key to the PSD”

The leader of the USR, Dominic Fritz, said on Sunday evening, on Digi24, that the appointment of Adrian Veștea for the position of prime minister creates the risk of a split in the PNL, given that several liberals have already publicly expressed their displeasure and others their support. He claimed that in the party there are different views on collaboration with the PSD.
Asked about the possibility of a break in the PNL, USR leader Dominic Fritz replied that “obviously there is this risk”, recalling that several liberal politicians have already publicly expressed their dissatisfaction with the appointment of Adrian Veștea.
“PNL is a party that, only two years ago, was campaigning on common lists, they supported the candidate Crin Antonescu together. So it is not something new that there are also many forces in PNL that would like peace, so that they can extract state resources where they want and where they need to,” declared the USR leader.
He added that he hoped there was another camp within the party. “I have the hope that even in the PNL, however, there is a camp strong enough to want a change for Romania, not to want to be PSD's key,” said Fritz.
The National Bureau of the USR unanimously adopted a resolution on Sunday that notes the appointment of Adrian Veștea for the position of prime minister and reaffirms that the party will not form a government with the PSD.
The formation announces that it will convene a Political Committee to make an official decision regarding the future Government.
USR said that it takes note of Adrian Veștea's nomination, but also of the fact that he was not informed beforehand about this decision. At the same time, he conveys that he owes the voters “clarity” and that he will remain “consistent with the decision not to form a government with the PSD”.
“A government that delivers results for citizens cannot be born from the betrayal of its own party. We will not betray the hopes and trust of our voters,” USR pointed out.
