The Indian press initially wrote that the Boeing plane with a capacity of about 300 passengers had 290 people on board, then returned with an estimate of over 240 passengers.
The plane had been fueled with a lot of fuel for the long distance flight, which amplified the intensity of the explosion and fire that followed.

According to the X's Flighttradar24 account, which follows the air traffic, the last signal transmitted by the plane came a few seconds after take -off.
