The director of a school in Buzău, caught when she took a bribe of 10,000 lei after offering procurement contracts

The headmistress of a secondary school in Buzău county was placed under house arrest for 30 days, after she was caught in the act while accepting a 10,000 lei bribe, according to a statement sent by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Buzău Court.

The investigators claim that the woman, investigated for bribery, would have previously requested the sum of 2,000 euros from the same person in connection with her work duties.

“On 10.06.2026, the specialized prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Buzău Court, together with judicial police officers from the IPJ Buzău, organized and caught red-handed the defendant, director of the Secondary School in the commune (…), Buzău County, while she was receiving the sum of 10,000 lei as a bribe from the witness”the prosecutors said.

According to the investigation, in April, the headmistress would have demanded the sum of 2,000 euros from the person in question, after, in December 2025, the school she headed concluded two public procurement contracts with her for a total of 50,100 lei.

“Previously, on 18.04.2026, he had requested from the same person the sum of 2,000 euros, in connection with the fulfillment of his duties, as a result of the fact that during December 2025, he concluded with the witness two public procurement contracts with a total value of 50,100 lei”, it is stated in the public prosecutor's statement.

After the flagrant, the woman was detained for 24 hours, and the prosecutors requested preventive arrest.

“On 11.06.2026, the specialized prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Buzău Court requested the Buzău Court to take the measure of preventive arrest (…), the court ordering the measure of house arrest for a period of 30 days”the investigators stated.

Investigations in this case continue under the coordination of prosecutors.
