The US imposed sanctions on entities purchasing weapons for the Iranian military

The Department of State announced sanctions against four entities and persons from Iran and Belarus, involved in acquiring weapons and related military equipment for the Iranian armed forces.
Additionally, the Ministry of Treasury imposed sanctions on nine entities and individuals that acted to acquire weapons on behalf of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
As the American authorities emphasize, the purpose of the restrictions is to disrupt supply networks supporting Iran's military programs and limit Iran's ability to develop its military activity in the region.
The Ministry of Treasury informed that the restrictions were imposed as part of Operation Economic Fury, intended to put pressure on Tehran. It includes the seizure of Iranian assets, the freezing of bank accounts and secondary sanctions against buyers of Iranian oil.
Sanctions announced against the background of tensions between the US and Iran. US President Donald Trump announced that American forces would launch a strong attack on Iran on Wednesday, just as they did the previous night. He also stated that the authorities in Tehran are deceiving the American side.
