Sergio Perez (36) finished the Monaco Grand Prix race last Sunday in tenth place, thus securing the first point in the history of the Cadillac team in Formula 1. Shortly after, however, the Mexican was penalized by 10 seconds, which dropped him to 15th position in the final standings.
Perez's penalty, his second of the day, was imposed for incorrect grid positioning on the restart after the red flag.

Then, the front tires of the Mexican car were outside the marked position, which is why he was penalized by 10 seconds.
At the start of the race, Pérez was also incorrectly positioned on the grid, but then misplaced his position after Gabriel Bortoleto pitted with a breakdown, and Pérez was penalized with a pit lane pass. Thus, Sergio Perez missed the chance to score Cadillac's first F1 point.
Sergio Perez: “I'm pushing everything to the limit, but this time I went a little over it”
“I had mixed feelings. It was obviously a fantastic race, with everything that happened to us, we faced a lot of problems. But then the race gave us an opportunity that we grabbed with both hands, but unfortunately we got a penalty at the end, which made things less sweet.
I think for the first penalty we can say it was a communication error, but I take responsibility. At the same time, when you're operating at the limit as a pilot, I use every inch possible to get a good start. I'm pushing everything to the limit, but this time we've gone a little over the top, so we're taking the positives from what's happened.
It was a little bit of everything, because I was in the shadows. Even when they showed me the footage from the surveillance cameras, I couldn't see exactly because I was in the shade under a tree and there was no visibility. So I attribute what happened to my desire to be at the limit, trying to warm up the tires as much as possible and as late as possible,” said Perez.
