He led several important projects in Romanian basketball

In Romania, Ionuț Georgescu held management positions at several important clubs. He was a manager at Steaua Bucharest, CSU Sibiu and CSO Voluntari.

During his tenure, Steaua contested the final of the National League, CSU Sibiu won the first Romanian Cup in the club's history and the first trophy after two decades, and CSO Voluntari won two Romanian Cups and played the first European final in the club's history, also obtaining the bronze medal in the National League.

At the end of the 2023-2024 season, Georgescu left Romania to continue his career abroad, but remained involved with CSO Voluntari as a scout and consultant.

From May 2024, he held the position of technical director of the academy and coordinated the international junior development program at Lucentum Alicante. Previously, he collaborated with Betis Baloncesto as a scout for Eastern Europe, with a focus on the Romanian market.

In the recently concluded season, Lucentum Alicante finished 9th in the regular season in Primera FEB, Spain's second division, and were eliminated in the first round of the play-offs by Estudiantes, 0-3 on aggregate.

I didn't leave Romania to earn more money. I had to go through a chip change and believe that it is possible to live here better, more peacefully, with less.

It wasn't easy for me. Especially since it wasn't just about me, having the responsibility of a family with two children and keeping the promise that we are going for the better.
