Over 2,000 blocks in Bucharest, without hot water after the fire at CET West. When Termoenergetica estimates the solution to the problem

The fire that broke out on Monday evening at Centrala Electrică de Termoficare (CET) West in Bucharest left about 2,300 blocks in the west of four sectors without hot water. Affected consumers were taken over by CET Grozăvești, Termoenergetica announces.

“Approximately 2,300 blocks in the West of the city do not have hot water, due to the fire that occurred during the previous night in the premises of CET Bucharest West, which led to the shutdown of the plant. Cet West belongs to ELCEN – the Ministry of Energy, and the installations are over 50 years old”, announced Termoenergetica.

Sectors 5, 6 are totally and partially Sectors 1 and 2, in the areas: Banu Manta Boulevard, Nicolae Titulescu Road, Griviței Street, Iancu de Hunedoara Boulevard, Floreasca Street, Nicolae Caramfil, Dorobantilor Street, Ștefan cel Mare Road, Mașina de Pâine Street, Lacul Tei Boulevard, according to the cited source.

When the hot water returns

The operation of CET Bucharest West is stopped, and the consumers charged have been taken over by CET Grozăvesti, the company Electrocentrale Bucharest (ELCEN) announced on Tuesday.

“CET Grozăvești is currently operating in a stable operating mode, ensuring supply
the thermal agent needed to supply consumers from the heating system of
Bucharest municipality. At this moment, the thermal agent is delivered at the parameters requested by the system operator, namely at a temperature of 80°C, contributing to maintaining the continuity of the supply of hot water to consumers”, ELCEN transmitted.

For his part, the general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced that the start-up maneuvers of the CET Grozavesti facilities have begun and two hot water boilers have already started.

The estimated date of resumption is today, April 21, at 6:00 p.m., according to the Termoenergetica website. On the other hand, the general mayor said that hot water will be provided somewhere around midnight.

“As the heat load rises in Grozavești, the supply of hot water will enter the parameters, somewhere around midnight, and we will be able to deliver to all the affected areas,” Ciprian Ciucu said.
