Ukraine had an unsuccessful start in the volleyball Nations League. How did the first match go?

On June 10, the Ukrainian men's volleyball team lost to Japan in the opening match of the Nations League. The Ukrainians lost to their opponents in three sets and were unable to win a single game. The match was broadcast by Suspilne Sport.

The game ended with a score of 3:0 in favor of Japan. As the specialized publication “Champion” writes, although the Ukrainians were inferior to their opponents at the end of each set, they “were able to impose a serious fight on the Japanese.”

In the first set, the Ukrainian team was on par with the Japanese, but in the middle of the game the latter seized the initiative and brought it to victory – 25:22. Ukraine started the second set better and led 6:2, but at the end of the game the opponent scored several points in a row and won with a score of 25:21. In the last game, the Ukrainians lost again – 22:25.

The Volleyball Federation of Ukraine wrote that, despite fierce resistance, the Ukrainian team “lacked concentration and accuracy in each of the sets.”

The most productive member of the Ukrainian team was the finishing player Dmitry Yanchuk, who scored 18 points, notes Suspilne Sport.

Ukraine will play its next match against China on June 11. The game starts at 11.30 Kyiv time.
