Weapons for striking at a distance of up to 2 thousand km. Syrsky approved the plan for the development of missile forces and artillery

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky approved the concept for the development of missile forces and artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces until 2030. He wrote about this on May 9 in Telegram.

Syrsky pointed out that the defense forces operate one of the widest ranges of artillery systems in the world and use almost every existing type of ammunition.

He also emphasized that the tactics of using troops are constantly evolving, the role of unmanned aerial systems, guided aerial bombs and other modern weapons is growing. Some may think that the era of artillery is becoming a thing of the past, but the experience of this war proves the opposite. Artillery remains an integral element of the modern battlefield, and one of its key advantages is the ability to quickly respond to threats and changes in the situation.

However, there are a number of factors that negatively affect the effectiveness of missile forces and artillery. First of all, as the commander-in-chief explained, this is a critical dependence on the supply of weapons and ammunition from partners, complex logistics associated with a large number of different types of systems, a limited range of destruction of certain types of weapons and a shortage of artillery reconnaissance means.

“The concept for the development of missile forces and artillery takes into account all these factors, as well as combat experience, projected trends in the development of weapons and possible changes in the methods of their use,” the commander-in-chief emphasized.

According to him, the basis for equipping the artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should be domestically produced samples. Worn-out Soviet-caliber artillery systems that cannot be modernized or repaired will be gradually phased out of service.

One of the key priorities of the concept is the creation of a modern artillery reconnaissance system. Syrsky explained that the war proved that the effectiveness of artillery directly depends on the quality of reconnaissance and the speed of information transfer.

A separate area is the development of missile weapons, Syrsky noted.

“We must increase our capabilities for fire impact on the entire operational-strategic and strategic depth of the enemy. For this purpose, it is planned to complete the development and further mass production of domestic ballistic and cruise missiles. In combination with unmanned systems, this will make it possible to create a balanced system of long-range fire impact and ensure the destruction of targets at a distance of up to 2 thousand km,” he added.
