Hermannstadt continues the changes after relegation to League 2. The Sibiu formation announced the parting with the goalkeeper David Lazar, one of the players brought to the team during the mercato period in the winter.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper leaves the group from Cibin after only a few months, shortly after the team lost the barrier to stay in the Super League against FC Voluntari.

AFC Hermannstadt and David Lazar terminated the contractual agreement today by mutual agreement, at the request of the goalkeeper, who will most likely continue his activity in the Romanian Superliga.

He came to Sibiu following an exchange of players

David Lazar arrived at Hermannstadt in February 2026, in a surprising move with FC Argeș. In exchange, the Sibiu players transferred the goalkeeper Cătălin Căbuz to the Pitesti formation.

The experienced goalkeeper was seen as an important solution for the end of the season, but he was unable to avoid the team's relegation.

In the approximately four months spent in Sibiu, David Lazar defended in 17 official matches. During this period, the goalkeeper scored 21 goals and was the starter including in the play-off double with FC Voluntari.

Hermannstadt had won the first leg, played at home, with a score of 3-2, but in the second leg in Ilfov, they lost decisively, 0-3, a result that sent the Sibiu team to League 2.
