Between June 8 and July 3 this year, Romanians can invest in TEZAUR government bonds – which have a nominal value of 1 leu and are in dematerialized form – with maturities of 1, 3 and 5 years.
The annual interest rates offered by the state are 6.25%, 6.80% and 7.25%, respectively.
Where and how government bonds can be bought
Between June 8, 2026 – July 1, 2026, through the Ghișeul.ro platform, for titles released through CN Poșta Română SA;
Between 08 June 2026 – 02 July 2026 onlineonly by individuals who are registered in the SPV for securities issued through State Treasury units. The operations that can be carried out online are: opening a subscription account in the name of the investor at a selected State Treasury unit, subscription to TEZAUR state securities, transfer of amounts from the investor's subscription account to a bank account. Between 08 June 2026-03 July 2026 from the headquarters of the State Treasury units;
Between 08 June 2026 – 02 July 2026 in the urban environment and 08.06.2026 – 01.07.2026 in the rural environment, through the postal subunits of CN Poșta Română SA
Guide for those who want to save through TEZAUR.
To purchase government securities through the Ghiseul.ro platform, an investor must meet the following conditions:
- Age older than 18 years at the time of subscription;
- Identity card valid in Romania;
- Account on the Ghiseul.ro platform;
- Debit card issued in Romania or in countries approved for the TEZAUR Program (list accessible on the website of the National Company “Poșta Română” – SA and on the Ghișeul.ro platform).
The investor can subscribe within an issue by accessing the Ghișeul.ro platform and entering the login data (username and password), according to its rules. To subscribe, the investor accesses the State securities section, where active issues and their characteristics can be consulted, according to the issue prospectus, and performs the operation of purchasing TEZAUR state securities related to the selected issue.
Also, any Romanian can have one or more subscriptions within the same issue, provided that they fall within the minimum ceiling of 1,000 lei for a subscription and a maximum value of 200,000 lei for an issue code, provided they fall within the card payment limit.
Payments to the investors of the TEZAUR Program of the amounts related to the repayment of the nominal value, interest, withdrawals, early redemptions are ensured by the National Company “Poșta Română” – SA, on the bank card used by the investor when subscribing or the one updated on the Ghișeul.ro platform.
The advantages of investing in the TEZAUR Program
Income obtained from investing in government securities issued by the Ministry of Finance is non-taxable. The interest is annual and is paid on the payment dates provided in the issue prospectus. Also, government bonds issued under the TEZAUR Program are transferable and can be redeemed in advance. In addition, an investor has the freedom to make one or more subscriptions within an issue. Investors have the possibility to cancel subscriptions already made only during the subscription period, by submitting a request.
Natural persons who have reached the age of 18 on the date of subscription are eligible. The funds obtained by the Ministry of Finance as the issuer, as a result of the issue of government bonds, will be used to finance the budget deficit and refinance the public debt.
The issue prospectus and any possible changes to it are published on the MF website in the State Securities section and on the CN Poșta Română SA website.
During the Tezaur edition held between May 11, 2026 and June 4, 2026, Romanians invested over 1.8 billion lei, through 44,598 subscriptions, of which over 346 million lei were subscribed through the Ghiseul.ro platform.
