Former centre-back Pepe joins Jose Mourinho's staff at real madrid as second coach

The 43-year-old Portuguese will assist the coach in his second term at the Bernabéu, which is set to begin following the re-election of Florentino Pérez as president, according to sportal.bg. Pepe retired from football two years ago.

Pepe played for 10 years for Real Madrid

If confirmed, it would be Pepe's first official experience as a member of a technical staff, having ended his playing career after Euro 2024.

Képler Laveran Lima Ferreira, known in the world of football as Pepe, arrived at Real Madrid from Porto and, between 2007 and 2017, he was one of José Mourinho's “soldiers” during the seasons spent as a technician in Madrid.

In those 10 years, Pepe played 334 games in the shirt of Real Madrid. He managed 15 goals and 10 assists. He also played for FC Porto, Beşiktaş and CS Maritimo in his career.

He collected 141 matches and 8 goals in the shirt of the Portuguese national team. His record includes, among others, no less than 3 Champions Leagues, 3 La Liga championship titles and the 2016 European Championship with the Portuguese national team.

Real Madrid will pay no less than 15 million euros to bring Jose Mourinho from Benfica. The official announcement is expected to come as early as Monday, June 8. Instead of Mourinho, Marco Silva will be installed on the “eagles” bench.
