On the evening of June 7, Iran launched missiles towards Israel, but air defense forces intercepted them all. The Israel Defense Forces reported this on Telegram.
The Times of Israel added that the attack was aimed at northern Israel. Iran used ballistic missiles.
The publication noted that this is the first attack on Israel by Iran since the ceasefire agreement came into force on April 8.
Iran's military commanders said the attack was in response to Israeli shelling of Lebanon and that if attacks on Lebanon did not stop, Israel would face “more crushing blows,” Fars writes.
US President Donald Trump called on Iran to return to negotiations after the missile launches.
“It certainly won't help the negotiations. My advice to Iran is, you fired your missiles, that's enough, come back to the table and make an agreement,” Trump said in a phone interview with Fox News.
CNN reported that Israel is preparing a “powerful response” to the Iranian attack.
Trump intends to demand that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not do this.
“Israel carried out its attack, Iran carried out itss. We don't need another one,” the US president said in an interview with Axios journalist Barak Ravid.
Trump added that the US and Iran are close to a final agreement that will be “good” and he doesn't want today's attacks to derail it. He believes that if Israel retaliates, it will only prolong the war, “as it has for the last 47 years or the last 3,000 years.”
