Plants now critically need strength to hold heavy caps and set buds for next year, and without competent help, bushes can produce pale, small flowers or drop buds altogether. When to start feeding
The weather has settled, and the bushes are actively growing green mass before budding. This is a signal to action. Nowadays, plants should absolutely not be given wood ash or chalk, otherwise the soil will become alkaline, the leaves will quickly turn yellow, and the flowers will lose their rich hue. The task is to acidify the soil and direct the energy of the bush to the formation of large, bright and elastic inflorescences.
What to choose for the garden
Previously, many simply watered the bushes with water or sprinkled universal granules, but the results of this method were often disappointing. In addition, regular fertilizing does not change the acidity of the soil, which is a critical factor for the health of this plant. Nowadays it is much safer to use special soil acidifiers, since they give a predictable and quick effect.
If you want to save money, regular citric acid works great. It is enough to dilute one teaspoon of powder in ten liters of water. This is a reliable remedy that the roots absorb instantly and which is directly responsible for the rich color of the petals and the strength of the stems.
How to apply correctly
You will never get the desired result if you pour an acidic solution onto dry soil. First, water the bushes well with regular settled water, lightly loosen the soil around the trunk, and only then apply the nutrient solution under the root. This way, hydrangeas will immediately receive everything they need and will reward you with continuous and truly luxurious flowering until the fall.
