According to the Ukrainian authorities, the attack in the Black Sea targeted two vessels belonging to the Maritime Search and Rescue Service, on a mission within the Ukrainian maritime corridor intended for civilian transport and humanitarian operations.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba announced on Telegram that the boats were deliberately attacked by Russian forces. As a result of the strike, crew members were injured, but the exact number of casualties has not been made public to date.

After the incident, units of the Ukrainian Navy were urgently sent to the area to evacuate the injured sailors and recover the damaged ships.

The attack comes as Ukraine tries to keep the Black Sea maritime corridor, vital for its exports and humanitarian transport, operational, despite constant threats from Russia.

Cafe hit in Zaporozhye region

In parallel, in southern Ukraine, the Russian army attacked a commercial building in the Zaporizhia region. The head of the Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, said that the target of the bombing was a cafe in the town of Novotroitske, located in the Zaporizhia district.

The explosion caused partial destruction of the building and injured two women aged 70 and 47. According to local authorities, the victims were evacuated and transported to the hospital, where they are receiving medical care and are under the supervision of doctors.

Saturday's attacks are part of a series of bombings launched by Russia on civilian infrastructure and towns near the front line, as the war against Ukraine continues to cause casualties and destruction in several regions of the country.
