The head of INSCOP talks about an unexpected effect for Bolojan after the censure motion: “A balloon of political oxygen”

Sociologist Remus Ștefureac, founder and CEO of INSCOP Research, described, in an interview with Digi24, the political effects of the censure motion initiated by AUR-PSD against the Bolojan Government as a rapid reconfiguration of the political scene.

According to Remus Ștefureac, in the short term, the censure motion produced unexpected political effects: interim prime minister Ilie Bolojan gained popularity.

“This motion of censure, at least in the short term, meant a balloon of political oxygen for Prime Minister Bolojan, who, somehow, instead of being thrown out of politics, was thrown onto a trampoline that increased his popularity, at least during this period,” said Ștefureac, in the show “In front of you”, from Digi24, broadcast on Saturday.

The sociologist claimed that this evolution is also visible in the polls.

“This is as obvious as possible from the measurements. The increase in popularity of Prime Minister Bolojan is even significantly higher than the increase of the party”, explained the head of INSCOP.

Ștefureac said that effects can also be seen regarding the USR and PN electorate: “Part of the USR voters have probably moved, at least in this short period, to the area of the National Liberal Party.”

Regarding the PSD, the sociologist says that “we found a decrease in popularity, in the intention to vote for the PSD by approximately three to four percent”.

How AUR is doing in the polls

Regarding AUR, Remus Ștefureac said that the formation led by George Simion remained in a stable zone of voting intention,

“This electorate has nowhere to go, for now it sees no alternatives. Voters' loyalty to this party remains quite high,” said Ștefureac.

He placed the voting intention for AUR in the range of 38 – 40%. “AUR has remained in this range, 38-40% all year. These are, broadly speaking, the evolutions of voting intention,” the sociologist stated.
