FCSB loses another player! There is real interest from the Champions League

The young Kevin Ciubotaru (22 years old), the defender from Hermannstadt, could change the team this summer, after the Sibiu formation was relegated to League 2. Wanted insistently by the boss of FCSB, Gigi Becali, the player is closely monitored by Lech Poznan, the champion of Poland.

In the winter mercato, Ciubotaru was one of the targets of FCSB, but the discussions held then did not materialize. The red-blue formation did not lose hope, especially since the Siberians always claimed that negotiations will resume this summer.

Now, after Hermannstadt has reached League 2, at the end of the tie with FC Voluntari, there are even more chances that Ciubotaru will leave the team and sign another contract.

Polish media indicate real interest from Lech Poznan

And in this context, the Polish press writes that there is interest in Kevin Ciubotaru from the champion Lech Poznan, who would like to strengthen their team this summer, before the Champions League preliminaries.

The footballer entered the “radar” of the Poles, who would like to bring him to replace Michał Gurgul, should he leave.

The transfer amount could amount to approximately 400,000 – 500,000 euros, the Poles from Newsy.Sportu note, who claim that negotiations are ongoing.

Thus, it remains to be seen if the move will materialize, especially since there is also interest from FCSB to transfer him to Bucharest.

  • In the current edition of the championship, Ciubotaru collected 39 games, in all competitions, in which he managed two decisive assists;

  • Having spent time at several junior teams of clubs such as Rapid Vienna, Admira, Parma or Rangers, Kevin Ciubotaru was brought by Hermannstadt in the summer of 2023. In the 2024-2025 season he was transferred to Unirea Ungheni, and from the summer of 2025 he became a key player for Sibien, with whom he has now relegated to League 2;

  • It is quoted by the specialized website Transfermarkt at 400,000 euros.

If Ciubotaru leaves, regardless of destination, it would be the second major loss for the Sibiu, after Aurelian Chițu chose to sign with Poli Timisoara, also in League 2.

FCSB, complicated mission in transferring Kevin Ciubotaru

As noted by GSP.ro this spring, the mission of the red-blues from FCSB to bring Kevin Ciubotaru promises to be a complicated one.

If an agreement with Hermannstadt will be reached quickly, this is because the footballer has a clause of 450,000 euros, and the relations between the clubs are excellent, it will be complicated to convince the player and his parents to accept the offer.

The reason? First of all, Kevin prioritizes a transfer outside of Romania and hopes to find an offer in a championship in the West, considering that abroad would help him develop more, professionally and personally. And he is not in a hurry to accept the first proposal received, being willing to wait even for the end of the 2026 World Cup. Which would not please those at FCSB, who want to resolve the transfers as quickly as possible, until the possible Conference League preliminaries begin.

In addition, the footballer is not fully convinced that a transfer to FCSB would be the best move for him at the moment. According to Gazeta Sporturilor, Kevin and his parents fear that the complicated environment at the red-blues could harm his career. That is why they want to talk to Gigi Becali in person, to make sure that the businessman really wants the footballer and that he will not criticize him on TV after the first developments, as he has done in other times with various players.
