The future of Alejandro Grimaldo (30 years old) is back in the center of attention in the transfer market. Bayer Leverkusen's left-back could become one of this summer's big opportunities for La Liga clubs.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the 30-year-old Spanish international would have a transfer price set at around 10 million euros. This amount is well below his market value and has already attracted the attention of FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. So far, neither club has made an official offer, but both are monitoring his situation closely.
Alejandro Grimaldo can be transferred for 10 million euros
The specialized portal Transfermarkt values the footballer at around 20 million euros. The reduced price is due to his contract situation, as he only has one year left on his contract with Bayer Leverkusen. The German club would prefer to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free in 2027.
The defender, trained at Barcelona's academy, left for Benfica in 2016 for just over 2 million euros. In 2023, he joined Bayer Leverkusen as a free agent, where he established himself as one of the most productive full-backs in Europe on the left flank. This season, he has registered 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, being one of the pillars of the German team.
Alejandro Grimaldo is on Barcelona and Atletico's list
As for the Catalan club, his name appears in the context of a possible departure for Alejandro Balde, who has lost his consistency at certain times of the season following the arrival of Joao Cancelo on loan in the winter. Therefore, the club does not rule out a new acquisition that will cement this position.
Cucurella, an alternative version
In the same scenario, the name of Marc Cucurella also appears, according to Sport. The Chelsea defender, also from La Masia, is another option should Barca decide to strengthen their left flank, although bringing him in would be more complicated financially.

As with Grimaldo, Atlético de Madrid is also closely monitoring Cucurella's situation. Meanwhile, both footballers are focused on the Spanish national team, preparing for the start of the 2026 World Cup, where they will compete for a place in the starting team.
