The Romanian coach Cristi Chivu (45 years old) is getting closer to signing the new commitment with Inter, the club with which he wrote history last season, when he won the championship in Serie A and the Italian Cup.
He went to the club headquarters on Thursday afternoon where the last negotiations were held and the last details were discussed. The meeting lasted about 4 hours and everything is on schedule, even if at the exit Chivu did not want to give any reaction about what happened behind closed doors.
According to the information published in the Italian press, the agreement between the Romanian technician and the Nerazzurri management is already completed, only the signing of the documents and the official announcement of the club are missing. Considering the performances of the Romanian at his soul club, it was expected that the negotiations would end with a positive response, the parties choosing continuity.
Cristi Chivu, 4-hour negotiations with Inter
During Thursday, a meeting of approximately four hours was held at the headquarters of the champion, during which both aspects related to the team's sports plans and Chivu's contractual situation were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reached a consensus on the last details of the new agreement, the contract being considered practically “armored”, as noted by the Italian press.
Journalist Fabrizio Biasin revealed that the agreement to extend the collaboration has already been established, with the new contract to be valid until the summer of 2028, with an option to extend for another season, until 2029. according to fcinter1908.it.
According to the information that appeared in the last hours, the signing of the documents and the official statement are expected in the coming days. Moreover, there is the possibility that the announcement will be made by the president Giuseppe Marotta himself during the Serie A Festival, an event scheduled for Thursday in Parma.
The Italians announced a few days ago that Chivu's current salary of 2 million euros net per season will be increased to 3.2 million plus performance bonuses (maximum 4 million in total) until June 30, 2028.
