A businessman was convicted of illegally cutting down pine and birch trees for 18 million rubles in the Krasnoyarsk Territory

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the court recognized a 40-year-old resident of one of the villages Minusinsk District guilty of two counts of illegal logging of forest plantations.
The crimes were committed in the Shushensky and Ermakovsky districts. The police established that in the summer of 2023 the entrepreneur, without permission to harvest timber, he hired a group of workers and organized the illegal felling of 332 pine trees with a total volume of over 739 m³. In addition, in the period until May 2024, on behalf of the attacker, other workers cut down 237 pine trees with a volume of almost 427 m³ and three birch trees with a volume of 7.51 m³.
“The perpetrators were not aware of the crime; the accused misled them about the legality of his actions. The attacker processed the illegally harvested timber at his sawmill in the Minusinsk District for subsequent sale. The total amount of material damage exceeded 18 million rubles,” the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
According to Part 3 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the court sentenced the businessman to a fine in the amount of 1.2 million rubles, and also satisfied two civil claims for the recovery of more than 18 million rubles from the state.
