Răzvan Lucescu, the former Romanian coach, spoke about Gică Hagi's first match in his new mandate at the helm of the national team, Romania – Georgiascore 1-1, friendly played in Tbilisi.
Being in the studio, Răzvan Lucescu commented on the images on the TV broadcast during the match, in which Gică Hagi gave directions energetically while gesturing: “Screciu, look at him, me, there! Stay with him, me! Where are you looking?”. PAOK's coach was impressed by the passion shown by the new coach.
Răzvan Lucescu saw the images of Gică Hagi on the bench in Georgia – Romania and reacted: “Nobody can do something like that!”
“He has an extraordinary passion! We had a friendly match in Thessaloniki with Farul in 2023 behind closed doors. God! From the first minute to the last whistle, he continuously shouted, encouraged, gave instructions… An energy… No one can do that.
I also curse during the matches, but not the players, I curse phases, situations. The players also taught me. Well, what do they learn the first time?”, said Răzvan Lucescu in the Fotbal Club show from Digi Sport.

The friendly match in Thessaloniki referred to by Răzvan Lucescu ended with a victory for PAOK, score 3-0. The goals were scored by Schwab (penalty), Konstantelias and Brandon Thomas.
These matches shouldn't have any pressure. They have no value. They are valuable for Gica to take notes for the official matches in the fall. The result doesn't even matter. Our selection base is small. We mean true value.
Gică Hagi in the national team will need a conjuncture that will allow him to use the best players to go to every match. If 2,3,4 are missing from this core for various reasons then it will have a problem. It also needs another conjuncture: that the national teams we play with are not in good shape. We are in a position to be able to impose ourselves. The team must be viewed without controversy and without pressure
