Historic evening for Gibraltar! The national team trained by Scott Wiseman (40 years old) achieved the most decisive victory in its history, 4-0 against the British Virgin Islands, in a friendly match played at home.
That success was decided from the first half, when Gibraltar went into the booths with a surprising three-goal lead.

The first success came in the 10th minute, and the guests scored a hilarious own goal.

The score was opened in the 10th minute, after a phase of “laughing stunts” in the defense of the guests. Luka Chalwell sent a pass back from midfield to goalkeeper Toby Whiteside, but the 18-year-old goalkeeper was surprised by the trajectory of the ball and could not avoid an own goal.
James Scanion extended Gibraltar's lead in the 32nd minute and Leon Mason made it 3-0 before the break (42'). After returning from the locker room, the same James Scanion scored again, in the 64th minute, and closed the table at 4-0.
The victory is all the more impressive as Gibraltar were going through a dark period, coming after 12 consecutive defeats in all competitions.
The 4-0 victory over the British Virgin Islands represents the most decisive success in Gibraltar's history. The previous record dates back to 2022, when the representative from the Iberian Peninsula beat Liechtenstein 2-0.
Gibraltar is currently ranked 203rd in the FIFA rankings and is considered one of the most underrated national teams in the world. Their opponent in this friendly, the British Virgin Islands, are even lower, in position 208.
At the opposite pole is Gibraltar's heaviest defeat in history, 0-14 against France in November 2023 in a European Championship qualifier.
Founded in 2013, the Gibraltar national team currently has a squad valued at just €1.8 million, according to specialist website Transfermarkt.
