Roskomnadzor personally addressed Google LLC CEO Sundar Pichai with a demand to unblock more than 200 Russian YouTube accounts.
According to Mash, the department sent an official letter to Google. In it: proofs of blocking of more than two hundred Russian accounts over the past four years, a listing of the largest of them and an urgent request to unblock them.
The RKN itself confirmed to us that the letter had indeed been sent; there was a demand to lift illegal restrictions – in order to comply with Russian legislation on the free receipt of information.
Roskomnadzor considers such measures by a transnational corporation unacceptable and contrary to the principles of free dissemination of information, unhindered access to it and freedom of expression.
We wrote earlier: the speed of YouTube in Russia has deteriorated and will deteriorate – due to overload of Google equipment, which they have not updated for the last 2.5 years. With the growth of users and traffic.
