The DNA announces, in an official statement, that the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Vlad Gheorghiță, is a suspect in a criminal case concerning the crime of “complicity in the usurpation of office”.
The head of the Army appeared on Tuesday morning at the military section of the DNA, to be heard by the prosecutors. At the end of the hearings, the DNA announced through a press release, the accusations brought by the military prosecutors against the general.
“During July 2025, General Vlad Gheorghiță, the Chief of the Defense Staff within the Ministry of Defense, through his acts of complicity, would have facilitated the issuing and signing by Lieutenant General Berdilă Iulian, the deputy for operations and training of the Chief of the Defense Staff, of a request addressed to the Ministry of Education and Research, regarding the addition of places from the budget for The National University of Physical Education and Sport Bucharest – Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, exceeding the limits of the attributions conferred by the legislation, given that the request in question was the exclusive attribute of the General Directorate of Human Resources Management, a central structure within the M.Ap.N”, the DNA transmitted.
