The first step will be taken on June 14, when the consecration service of the place of worship is scheduled. After this ceremony, religious services can be held in the church. The full dedication ceremony, which marks the final dedication of the church, is expected to take place in about two years.
For Becali, the event represents the fulfillment of a project started many years ago and supported by an investment of tens of millions of euros.
“On June 14 is the consecration. But she is the little sanctification. It's not procrastination. The consecration is done in order to do the Holy Liturgy. The big one, the lingering, will be done in two years. (no there will be 2000-3000 people) It is possible to be. I'm getting ready. I poured concrete, this, marble!”Gigi Becali admitted, according to Fanatik.
The idea of erecting the place of worship dates back to 2008
The church built by Gigi Becali in the Pipera area represents one of the biggest investments made by the patron of FCSB, the total costs being estimated at almost 20 million euros.
Ahead of a Champions League clash with Galatasaray, Becali promised to build a church if his team qualified. After almost two decades, the project was completed. The works started in 2020, on a plot of land at the entrance to Pipera-Voluntari. The building stands out for its design inspired by the architecture of Russian churches, less common in Romania. The construction is about 40 meters high to the cross, 35 meters long and 20 meters wide, and around 1,000 people can attend services inside.
