Soran is going through the best moment of his career. Romania's number 1 racket equaled her best performance at Roland Garros, achieved 17 years ago (2009).

At the end of the match, the Romanian declared that she reached this stage of the competition thanks to her ambition and passion for tennis.

Sorana also spoke about the pressure society puts on sportswomen as they get older, stressing that she doesn't take into account such labels.

Sorana Cîrstea, the first reaction after qualifying for the quarter-finals at Roland Garros: “If we didn't close the match in two sets, it would have become even more difficult”

“It was a good match, I played well. At this level, if you lose 1% of your intensity, you pay. I didn't make too many mistakes, she played incredible. I am happy that I closed the match in two sets, because otherwise it would have become even more difficult.

I had ambition, passion, I still love this sport. I'm glad that I have my family with me, my friends are close. I feel like society labels us, but in life I think you have the right to do what you want. Here I am at 36 years old. Thanks to the audience for their support!

I've put more pressure on myself in recent years, but yeah, I've put less pressure here.

I remember the times when we collaborated (no – to Marion Bartoli) and thank you for the advice you gave me. I'm happy when I enter the field.

At the end of the day it's all about passion and my passion is tennis and I can only be grateful for what's happening to me”, said Sorana Cîrstea, on Eurosport 2.

Thanks to everyone, it was an incredible atmosphere. It was a pleasure to play in front of you.
