The protest would take place on June 2, the very day the current collective labor agreement expires.

The union rejected the latest offer submitted by the bank's management, considering that it would lead to the reduction of some benefits and social protections that the employees currently enjoy.

Among the rights under discussion are meal vouchers, holiday vouchers, the employer's contribution to Pillar III of pensions, loyalty bonuses, certain benefits granted to employees with children and settlement of transport for commuters.

Instead of a part of these benefits, the bank would propose to grant some amounts through a flexible benefits platform, a variant considered disadvantageous for some of the employees.

According to the estimates of the employees' representatives, for an employee who currently benefits from all the facilities provided for in the CCM, the annual loss could reach approximately 6,000 lei, depending on seniority and the individual situation.

The complaints appear in a context marked by internal reorganizations and the reduction of the number of employees in recent years. According to information obtained by “the truth”, BRD's staff has been reduced by more than 15% in the last 15 months, while the bank reported a cumulative net profit of more than 6 billion lei in the period 2022-2025 and distributed or approved dividends of almost 3 billion lei.

The complaints appear in a context marked by internal reorganizations and the reduction of the number of employees in recent years. Employee representatives say workload has been redistributed to remaining staff, while the bank has continued to report strong financial results.

At the level of the union organization, there is availability for the continuation of the protests if the negotiations do not advance in the next period.
