Mariupol defender Denis Ganzha received an apartment from Rinat Akhmetov

Defender of Mariupol Denis Ganzha received the keys to his own apartment under the “Home” program, which the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation is implementing in partnership with the “Heart of Azovstal” project. Denis is a native Mariupol resident and has served in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2017.

In early April 2022, during fierce battles for his hometown, a military man came under artillery fire and was seriously injured. For ten days he remained motionless in a shelter, where the Russian military subsequently broke into. This is how Denis ended up in captivity, where he was held for more than two months. In the summer of 2022, the seriously wounded defender was returned home as part of an exchange.

“At first, Denis received comprehensive medical care under the Health program from the Heart of Azovstal. Now he has his own housing – a space for recovery and a place where he can calmly make plans for the future,” the Fund noted.

The “At Home” program provides for the provision of apartments to Mariupol defenders with group I and II disabilities.

“I am grateful to Rinat Akhmetov for what he does for all the military. We lost everything, and he helps us get back on our feet and gives us a chance to live normally again. Thank you very much for this,” Denis shared.

Natalya Yemchenko, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, and Ksenia Sukhova, General Director of the Foundation, came to congratulate the defender on his housewarming. They noted that they were sincerely happy to help the hero start a new stage of life in his own apartment.

“I would like to convey to you from Rinat Akhmetov words of gratitude for the heroic defense of the city of Mariupol, for everything that you have done and are doing for our country. We appreciate this very much, and all projects and programs created for the defenders of Mariupol are aimed at their dignified life,” said Ksenia Sukhova.

According to Natalia Yemchenko, supporting the defenders of Mariupol and providing them with housing is the strategic goal of the project, which is already producing concrete results.

“We are approaching the figure of 330 apartments, as I already said, by the end of the year we have a goal of delivering at least 400 apartments,” she said.
