In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, 24 years later, the case of a woman’s death was solved

In Nazarovo, a criminal investigation into the death of a woman, whose body was found back in 2002, has been completed. This was reported to the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia.

The accused was a 49-year-old resident of Nazarovo. He is charged with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm, negligently resulting in the death of the victim. The body of a woman with multiple injuries was found on May 11, 2002 on Chernyakhovsky Street in Nazarovo. Then a criminal case was opened, but it was not possible to identify those involved in the crime. The preliminary investigation was suspended.

The case was returned to in 2026 as part of the work to solve crimes of past years. Investigators, criminal investigators of the Investigative Committee and police officers re-examined the deceased’s social circle and additionally interrogated her relatives. It turned out that the woman lived with her sister and her two sons. She often had domestic conflicts with her eldest nephew. During interrogation, the 49-year-old man confessed to the crime. He then confirmed the testimony on the spot and showed in detail how he struck the relative.

According to investigators, on the night of May 9-10, 2002, a conflict occurred between the aunt and nephew, who were intoxicated. During an argument, the man beat the woman with his hands and feet. Later her condition worsened and she died. Additional forensic examination confirmed that the fatal injuries were caused by the actions of the accused.

The criminal case was sent to the prosecutor's office to decide on the approval of the indictment and subsequent transfer to court.
