Donald Trump, at Walter-Reed Military Hospital. An announcement, expected in a few hours

Donald Trump showed up for his annual medical check-up on Tuesday, a few days before his 80th birthday and at a time when the US president's health is the subject of speculation, writes AFP.

He arrived at Walter-Reed Military Hospital, near Washington, around 8:50 a.m. local time (12:50 GMT). The American leader's agenda indicates that he has a meeting at 1:30 p.m. local time (17:30 GMT) at the White House.

A bulletin of the president's medical examinations is usually published a few hours or a few days after they are carried out.

The level of detail disclosed publicly is, however, at the discretion of the White House.

The billionaire Republican — the oldest sworn-in president of the United States — regularly asserts that he is in good physical and mental health, especially compared to his predecessor, Democrat Joe Biden.

But since his return to power in January 2025, the US president has been seen from time to time with bruises on his right hand, sometimes covered with make-up and attributed to taking aspirin as a routine cardiovascular treatment.

The US government also revealed that Donald Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a widespread and benign condition that causes leg swelling or cramps.

In October, Donald Trump had his second medical check-up since 2025. The report released following this routine check-up indicated that he was in “excellent health” and that his heart age was “about 14 years younger” than his actual age.
