If you notice that the kitchen hood has become worse at drawing air, and the metal grilles are covered with a sticky coating, do not rush to buy aggressive chemicals. There is a proven method that carefully removes fat deposits and restores filter permeability without damaging the surface.
Take a deep container that will accommodate the removed grate. Pour two tablespoons of baking soda and pour two glasses of hot water over them. Stir until completely dissolved, then add a tablespoon of dish soap. Dip the metal mesh into the solution until it completely covers the contaminated areas. Leave the structure for ten to fifteen minutes so that the mixture gently eats away the hardened fat. After this, carefully walk over the surface with a soft brush, rinse off the residue with warm water and wipe the grille with a dry cloth. If the plaque is old and thick, repeat the procedure or increase the exposure time to twenty minutes. Before installation, make sure the filter is completely dry to prevent moisture from entering the motor.
This easy and accessible technique copes with even the most stubborn stains, without leaving a pungent odor and maintaining the operating condition of the equipment for a long time.
