Russian command center hit by Storm Shadow missiles in occupied territory, Kiev claims. “No position is safe”

Ukraine's Air Force used Storm Shadow cruise missiles on Monday to strike Russian military infrastructure in the occupied Luhansk region on May 25, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army, Kyiv media reported.

“Ukraine successfully used Storm Shadow air-to-ground cruise missiles to destroy an important enemy command, control and communications post in the temporarily occupied territory of the Lugansk region,” according to a statement sent by the military command structure of the Ukrainian army quoted by The Kyiv Independent.

The UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles have a range of between 250 and 560 kilometers, depending on the variant. Equipped with advanced navigation systems, they are designed to fly at low altitude and at high speed to avoid interception and strike strategic targets.

The Ukrainian General Staff claimed that the attack proved that “no position of the Russian aggressor is safe on Ukrainian soil”, emphasizing the coordination and planning of the operation.

Kiev is constantly striking military infrastructure deep in occupied territories or inside Russia in an attempt to reduce Moscow's ability to continue the war.

In March, Ukraine announced that it had used Storm Shadow missiles to strike the Kremniy El factory in Briansk, one of Russia's main microelectronics manufacturers, where components used in missile guidance systems are made.

In addition to Western weaponry, Ukraine also uses domestically produced missiles and drones to attack military targets in Russia and the occupied territories.

On the night of Sunday into Monday, Ukrainian forces launched a drone attack on the Vtorovo oil pumping station in Russia's Vladimir region, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Also, the 1st Azov Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard published images on Monday of strikes on targets near occupied Mariupol and the border with Russia.
