Parasites that cause seizures and paralysis were removed from the brain of a 16-year-old Russian woman who kissed a pet dog.
Doctors from Surgut operated on a girl whose body was infected with echinococcus larvae. They entered the head along with the bloodstream, and there they settled in multiple capsules.
The largest formations were found in the parietal part of the skull. They were removed, but not all. The infection caused pressure on surrounding structures, which caused the girl to experience convulsions and bilateral paresis of the limbs.
An open operation was performed. The remaining cysts do not bother the girl.
