The League 3 season has officially ended. The four teams directly promoted to League 2 have been determined, as well as the four teams that will compete in the two play-offs for the last available place in the second tier.
Cetatea Suceava, the leader of Serie 1, and CSL Ștefănești, the first place holder in Serie 2, are the last teams to secure direct promotion to League 2 and started the celebration.
Along with them, SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, the winner of Series 3, and Politehnica Timișoara, the leader of Series 4, will evolve from next season in the second echelon of Romanian football.
Here are the teams qualified for the play-off for promotion to League 2
Gura Humorului Falcons (Serie 1), SC Popeşti Leordeni (Serie 2), Minerul Lupeni (Serie 3) and Unirea Alba Iulia (Serie 4) finished in second place and will have to play a play-off tournament to determine the fifth team that will go up to League 2.
The draw for the promotion tournament takes place today, starting at 13:00, at Casa Fotbalului.
The first drawn from each duel will be the home team in each of the two semi-finals, FRF announces. The host of the final will be the winner of the first semi-final.
The semi-finals will take place on May 30, in a single leg, and the final on June 6, with the starting time of the matches to be 17:30. The winner of the final will be the fifth team promoted in the next League 2 season.
At the opposite pole, the League 3 play-out has been over since last week. 18 teams were mathematically relegated and would be promoted to League 4 from next season.
However, the situation could change for some clubs. The financial problems faced by several teams in League 3 may influence the composition of the next season, and some sports relegated teams could still remain in this echelon.
FC Bacău 2, CS Gheorgheni, SC Oţelul Galaţi 2, CSM Râmnicu Sărat, FC Voluntari 2, Dinamo 2, FC Pucioasa, CSO Teleajenul Vălenii de Munte, CSL Nanov, Gilortul Târgu Cărbuneşti, Viitorul Dăesti, ACS Unirea DMO and Olimpia MCMXXI Satu Mare, Dacia Unirea Brăila, CS Agigea, ACSO Filiași, Unirea Bascov and Unirea Dej are the teams that have been relegated to League 4.
