Ukraine convenes an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council due to Russian attack on Kyiv

Ukraine initiates an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in response to a massive missile attack by the aggressor country Russia on the night of May 24 in Kyiv. This was stated by Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga on the social network X.

According to him, Ukrainian missions to international organizations are instructed to make maximum use of the tools of multilateral diplomacy to respond to the Russian strike.

In addition to the UN Security Council meeting, Ukraine is also initiating a joint meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation and the OSCE Permanent Council.

“[Нелегитимный президент РФ Владимир] Putin is trying to intimidate Ukraine by attacking civilians and destroying homes, museums, schools and critical infrastructure. He is also trying to intimidate the world by launching ICBMs at peaceful cities,” Sibiga wrote.

He called on the international community to take decisive and coordinated action to contain Russia and achieve a just and lasting peace.
