The earthquake occurred on Monday at 17:33, in the Vrancea Seismic Zone, at a depth of 134.1 kilometers.
According to specialists, the earthquake occurred near several important cities: 46 kilometers south of Focșani, 59 kilometers south of Buzău, 66 kilometers east of Sfântu Gheorghe, 76 kilometers east of Brașov and 91 kilometers northeast of Ploiesti.
The National Institute for Earth Physics specified that it was a weak earthquake, specific to seismic activity in the Vrancea area.
Since the beginning of May, there have been eight earthquakes in Romania with magnitudes between 2.2 and 3.8 degrees.
The strongest earthquake recorded in Romania this year took place on February 26, in Vrancea county, and had a magnitude of 4.5 degrees on the Richter scale.
