As a result of a combined attack by the aggressor country of the Russian Federation on the night of May 24, about 40% of museum objects from the exhibition of the National Chernobyl Museum in Kyiv were irretrievably lost. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

According to the department, these museum exhibits are “irretrievably lost.”

Some of the items were saved thanks to the prompt evacuation – in particular, items from storage facilities, a painting by Maria Primachenko and the Ukrainian flag installed at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant after de-occupation in 2022.

“With today’s strike, Russia tried to destroy not only life, but also memory,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized.

The ministry added that rescuers from the State Emergency Service spent more than 15 hours extinguishing fires that arose after the attacks on cities and communities. Work to dismantle dangerous structures continues.

According to the police, more than 80 people, including three children, turned to doctors in Kyiv alone. There were also more than 540 reports of damaged property.
